Optical illusions are visual tricks that deceive our brains and eyes into seeing things that are not there. They can test our sharpness of vision by challenging us to spot fine details in the illusions.
The best examples of optical illusions that test acuity are the ones where we have to find hidden objects or patterns. These illusions can also test our peripheral vision, i.e., the ability to see things at the edges of our field of view, which can make it difficult to spot objects that are not directly in front of us. Optical illusions can also make it difficult to distinguish between colors.
Optical illusions are also used in psychoanalysis to study how we perceive things. One such illustration can be seen in the picture shared on social media, where two snow leopards are hidden in the mountains.
Optical Illusion Vision Challenge: Can You Spot the Two Snow Leopards Hidden in the Backyard?
The above optical illusion image is a photo taken by Dhritiman Mukherjee in the Himalayas. Photographer Dhritiman Mukherjee waited patiently for 12 hours to capture this photo of snow leopards sitting on the mountains before they began to climb.
He stated, “I have been interested in snow leopards in the high Himalayas for a long time. This encounter was very interesting. I got the mother and cub in Hemis National Park in Ladakh, India, when the temperature range was between minus three and minus 30 degrees Celsius.”
He spent the entire day following the snow leopards and was amazed at their ability to tackle the challenging environment of the mountains. He further explained that “I tried to capture the intelligence of the animal and how comfortably it blended into the terrain in my photographs.”
The illusion challenges the viewers to find the hidden animal in the picture by hinting “Two snow leopards are almost impossible to spot against the Himalayas”. So, your task is to find the two snow leopards in this viral optical illusion. Are you up for the challenge? It may take a while to spot the snow leopards in this photo, but it’s a magnificent sight once you do!

Optical illusions are a fun and challenging way to exercise your brain and improve your vision skills over time. They can also teach us interesting things about how our brains work. Many scientists use optical illusions to study how the brain processes visual information.
If you can find the leopards in this optical illusion, it means you have good vision. If you’re an adult, it means you’ve kept your vision sharp. We’d love to know if you were able to spot the two snow leopards.
