Some users can now access “Ask Photos” on Google Photos after the company opened a waitlist for access last month.
“Ask Photos” is now showing up in the Google Photos app, as Google previously stated. This looks to be a server-side update for users in the US. Natural-language interactions with your photo collection are made possible by this AI-powered feature. These interactions can include more intricate prompts like inquiring about past Halloween costumes, the day your child began to swim, and more.
Although Google began accepting applications for a queue for Ask Photos in early September, more customers are only now receiving access to the function.

When the feature is made accessible on your account, it replaces the “Search” option in the Photos app and appears as a new tab along the bottom bar. It functions on all of your devices, including iOS and Android apps. Classic search is still available, but only after posing the query via Ask Photos.
When you first launch Ask Photos, you’ll be asked to verify certain information, such as making sure the right names are associated with the right persons, and go over how the feature operates and what data it has access to. Relationships for humans and animals must also be set, and they must be arranged according to how frequently they appear in your library.
Regarding the functionality itself, it was found that Ask Photos performs best when responding to queries regarding individuals and locations rather than occasions or objects.
Yet, it appears that Google may utilize location data to assist the focus of the search given that many of its examples include things like determining what you ate at a specific area or when you completed a particular activity there. However, your outcomes can be different.

While not all users have access to the feature yet, if you joined the waitlist within the last few weeks, you should be able to see Ask Photos very soon if you haven’t already.
