Keiji Kojima started his career at Hitachi in 1982, where he held various positions at the Central Research Laboratory until 1989. Then, he worked as a researcher in Department 8 at the Central Research Laboratory. He then moved to the United States to work as a researcher in Department 6 at the Systems Development Laboratory, Hitachi Computer Products (America), Inc. 

Upon his return to Japan in 1999, Kojima became the Deputy General Manager of the Internet Platform Division within the Ubiquitous Platform Group. He then served as the General Manager of the Central Research Laboratory in the Research and Development Group till 2011. Following this role, he was promoted to General Manager of the Hitachi Research Laboratory till the next year. 

Later, Kojima was promoted to Vice President, Executive Officer, and General Manager of the Hitachi Research Laboratory in the Research and Development Group. He then became the Vice President, Executive Officer, and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), as well as the General Manager of the Research and Development Group. 

In 2016, he was appointed Senior Vice President (SVP), Executive Officer, and CEO of the Services & Platforms Business Unit, a role he held until 2017. He continued as SVP, Executive Officer, and CEO of the Services & Platforms Business Unit, and CEO of Hitachi Information & Telecommunication Systems Global Holding Corporation.

Then Kojima served as Representative Executive Officer, Executive Vice President (EVP), and Assistant to the President for various divisions, including Building Systems, Railway Systems, Smart Life & Ecofriendly Systems, and Automotive Systems, and was also the Chief Information Security Officer. He then became the Representative Executive Officer, EVP, and Assistant to the President for the Smart Life & Ecofriendly Systems Business, Automotive Systems Business, and Healthcare Business, as well as General Manager of the Smart Life Business Management Division till 2020. 

Till 2021, he continued in a similar role but with additional responsibilities for the Healthcare Business Growth Strategy Division. In 2021, he was promoted to Representative Executive Officer, President, and Chief Operating Officer (COO). Finally, in 2022, he became the Representative Executive Officer, President, and CEO of Hitachi, Ltd.
