Spanish artist Alicia Framis is set to make history by marrying an AI-generated hologram named AILex. The unconventional union is part of her 'Hybrid Couple' project, exploring the boundaries of love, intimacy, and identity in the age of AI.

Alicia Framis, a pioneering Spanish artist, is poised to become the first woman to marry an AI-generated hologram, marking a significant chapter in her innovative project, ‘Hybrid Couple.’ This avant-garde endeavor challenges conventional notions of love, intimacy, and identity in the era of artificial intelligence.

The marriage, scheduled to take place this year at a museum in Rotterdam, marks the first instance of a woman marrying an AI-generated hologram. Framis’ holographic partner, named AILex, is a creation designed to fulfill her emotional needs, described as a “middle-aged male hologram with slightly complex logistics.” While the union is not romantic in nature, it serves as a focal point for her exploration of human-AI relationships.

Framis is actively involved in the wedding preparations, the wedding ceremony, set for this summer on the rooftop of the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum, reflects Framis’s meticulous planning, from designing her wedding dress to coordinating attire for attendees.
