Perplexity is introducing a new “Buy with Pro” function that enables its $20/month Pro users to make purchases through its AI-powered search engine.
Product cards will now be displayed to users when they search for products on Perplexity. Pro members can utilize the new “Buy with Pro” button on some of these cards to check out using their stored shipping and billing information. Orders placed via the new button will be shipped for free.

There are certain restrictions, though. “Buy with Pro” is only available to US customers at launch and only supports a limited number of products from specific retailers. Perplexity will reroute the user to the merchant’s website for checkout if a product does not display a “Buy with Pro” link.
Additionally, Perplexity is introducing “Snap to Shop,” which is similar to Apple’s visual intelligence or Google Lens. You can find comparable things for sale online by taking a picture of an item and uploading it to the AI search engine. Additionally, Perplexity’s AI will compare products.
Amazon spokesperson Sara Platnick told the Verge that the AI startup, which is supported by Jeff Bezos, the creator of Amazon, will not receive any fees from the purchases. Additionally, the product recommendations are not sponsored. “They’re unbiased recommendations tailored to your search by our AI,” Perplexity states.

Perplexity appears to be interested in expanding its shopping capabilities for merchants as well. To provide retailers with “insights into search and shopping trends that surface their products,” the business is launching a new merchant program. Additionally, it raises the likelihood that Perplexity will suggest their goods.
