Made by Google is an event that Google is hosting in Mountain View, California, on Tuesday for the media and industry partners. The Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and new Pixel 9 Fold will be released here as the upcoming Pixel phones.
Additionally, according to the rumours and early leaks (of which there have been an incredible amount this year, including some from Google themselves), this is also the location where the new Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds will be revealed.
While it may seem strange to release all of this material online a month or two ahead of schedule, it’s not wholly out of the ordinary. Apple has long set the timeline for smartphone releases; for almost a decade, the company has consistently released the iPhone in the middle of September.

The first major manufacturer to deviate from this schedule for their Galaxy Unpacked events—which happen at various times throughout the year—was Samsung. Google is now leading the way, either to outpace Apple in the news cycle or to give Gemini, the AI assistant integrated into all of its products, more of a platform.
Here’s how to watch the event on Tuesday and what to anticipate.
How to watch it?
Starting on Tuesday, August 13, at 10 a.m. PDT, 1 p.m. EDT, and 6 p.m. BST, is the Made by Google 2024 event. The entire film is available to watch on the Made by Google YouTube channel, which is where Google posts all of its videos about hardware. Additionally, Keke Palmer will host an after-party. Given that it is set to begin at 11:20 a.m. Pacific time, we anticipate that the primary presentation will run for roughly 80 minutes.

What to Anticipate?
This year, Google is planning to release a lot of hardware. On Tuesday, the whole lineup of flagship Pixel phones should get updates. The Pixel 9, along with the Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Fold, will be the main attraction.
This year’s 9 and the 9 Pro are expected to be the same size, in contrast to past Pixel phone releases where the Pro was larger than the regular Pixel. The Pixel 9 Pro XL, which will have a larger screen measuring 6.7 or 6.8 inches along with a bigger battery, is reportedly the sole phone that will be larger this time around. The more potent triple-camera array and more robust internal specifications will be present in every Pro Pixel. The next-generation Tensor chips included within all phones, Pro and regular, will support the latest AI capabilities in Android, including Gemini, Google Assistant, and stock Android, in addition to adding a degree of protection to the device.

On Tuesday, the most recent iteration of the Pixel Fold ought to be revealed as well. The current Pixel Fold is already our favourite choice for folding gadgets, so we’re thrilled about the rumoured Pixel 9 Fold. It’s the best folding book-style device available in terms of cost, functionality, durability, and performance.
The low-cost A-series Pixel phone is the only one not anticipated to receive an upgrade this week. The Pixel 8A, which we first reviewed in May, is our number one choice for low-cost Android phones. These low-cost A-series phones usually launch in the spring, six or seven months after the flagship Pixel releases. So in the first half of 2025, keep an eye out for the Pixel 9A.
This week, we also won’t be seeing any new Nest thermostats or TV streaming gadgets using Google software. This is because both of those announcements were made last week, in advance of the Pixel event—possibly to allow the firm to focus solely on Pixel-branded products at the Made by Google showcase.

We anticipate seeing longer battery life, enhanced sensing, and faster performance in the upcoming wearable, which is expected to arrive with an update for the Pixel Watch on Tuesday. We may anticipate that the Pixel Watch 3 will make use of all the most recent Wear OS features, such as closer interaction with Pixel phones, Pixel earphones, and smart home products, as the smartwatch serves as Google’s software development platform.
We can anticipate demos of how these new devices enable Gemini conversations during Tuesday’s presentation, given the intensity of the AI arms race and Google’s significant investment in its Gemini generative AI chatbot. We should expect to hear about Google’s efforts to provide a smooth Gemini experience, as the company, along with Apple and all the other major players in AI, are keen to get us interacting with our devices in more natural-feeling ways.
Alongside the new phones and watches, the new Pixel Buds and Pixel Buds Pro are anticipated to launch. Naturally, we can anticipate further capabilities that enhance the voice control experience, in addition to better audio quality from these buds. Google envisions the Pixelverse as a place where you use your voice to communicate with Gemini while wearing a pair of Pixel Buds in your ears. Therefore, that’s what the new headphones need to deliver.
