Gemini 2.5 Pro-powered Deep Research (experimental) is now accessible

Google has enhanced its Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental artificial intelligence model with the agentic Deep Research tool, enhancing analytical reasoning capabilities. The new large language model is now available to Gemini Advanced subscribers via web, iOS, and Android apps.

Google is adding additional tools to its Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental artificial intelligence (AI) model. The IT behemoth from Mountain View revealed on Tuesday that the agentic Deep Research tool will now be powered by its most recent Gemini model.

The AI platform’s paid customers are currently the only ones able to use this capability; free users will still be able to use the AI agent with the Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking (experimental) model. According to Google, the most recent large language model (LLM) will enable users to observe appreciable enhancements in the analytical reasoning capabilities of the tool.

How Deep Research Will Now Be Powered by Gemini 2.5 Pro?

The tech giant revealed the extension of its most recent foundation model to Deep Research in a blog post. Last month, the Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental AI model was unveiled with several enhancements. Additionally, since this is the first Gemini series to include integrated reasoning capacity, all of the AI models in the Gemini 2.5 family will be “Thinking” models by default. As a result, the process of incorporating the model into Deep Research is smooth.

According to Google, the raters favored the produced reports over those of rivals during an internal test of Deep Research using Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental. The organization asserted that the testers specifically observed a discernible improvement in the production of perceptive research reports, information synthesis, and analytical thinking.

Who can access Deep Research with Gemini 2.5 Pro?

Only Gemini Advanced subscribers can now access Deep Research with Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental. The AI agent is available to subscribers via the web, as well as through iOS and Android apps. The Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking (experimental) approach allows users on the free tier of Gemini to continue using Deep Research.

Notably, in December 2024, Google made its agentic Deep Research available for public use. But at first, only Gemini Advanced users could access it. The AI agent was later extended to all users in 2025.

Deep Research can conduct online searches, develop multi-phase research strategies, and gather data on the subject and associated domains. The collected data is then analyzed, a comprehensive report is prepared, and the user is shown the results.
