Various companies organize competitions for data scientists and AI scientists/ engineers. Here are a few listed below:

1. OpenCV AI Competition 2023

OpenCV AI competition has been happening for the past 6 years. These are a series of global competitions promoting the idea of artificial intelligence and encouraging the AI communities to create and show what they can do to the world. The eligibility of this competition is as follows:

Candidates are at least 13 years of age

In case the candidate is 12 years or younger, they require a legal guardian’s permission to enter the competition. Send any questions to competition@opencv.org.

The candidates should not be a resident of the Russian Federation, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, or Syria

Candidates should not be involved in the execution or administration of this contest.

Participants should not be an immediate family member or household member of a Hackster employee.

This year the contest started on July 10, 2023, and the winners will be announced by December 21, 2023.

Introducing OpenCV AI Competition 2023

2. Google AI Challenge:

In this challenge, participants showcase their AI skills to compete with their peers. Participants are allowed to use any programming language to provide an AI solution to the specific problems given by Google. The winning team is announced based on the accuracy of their solution.

3. Google TensorFlow Dev Summit:

This is also a competition conducted by Google. It is an annual competition consisting of two parts- workshops and competitions. In these workshops, candidates learn about recent developments in Google TensorFlow and programming languages. You can also meet the best minds in the AI industry while participating in this contest.

4. Kaggle Machine Learning Competition:

This competition is hosted by Kaggle. The participants develop various models and programs in this competition and the winner is the one who offers the best prediction accuracy. Kaggle is a global community of data scientists that makes the world easier to live for others. The previous competitions included the following topics:

Eg.1. Allstate Claim Prediction Challenge – Participants had to use customers’ shopping history and use it to predict the insurance policy purchased.

Eg. 2. Jigsaw Toxic Comment Classification Challenge – Candidates needed to predict the existence and type of toxic comments on Wikipedia in this challenge.

Zillow Prize – In this challenge, candidates had to build a machine learning algorithm that could challenge Zestimates.

11. DTCC Code-A-Thon

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) conducted this competition on October 20, 2023, for college students wishing to make a career in technology.   The prizes include an iPad, iPod, VR Headset, and possible DTCC internship programs or full-time opportunities in 2024. In DTCC CODE-A-THON, participants need to answer coding and multiple-choice-type questions.

12. Bitgrit

This competition began in 2019. Japanese startup Bitgrit.Inc. sponsors this contest in AI. Over 25000 data scientists from all over the world participated in this contest. 13. Driven Data

Driven Data Science online competition is conducted to increase the number of female data scientists in the Artificial Intelligence industry. 15. Tianchi Big Data Science Competition

It is an annual international competition where participants are tested on their skills in developing innovative big data solutions. Tianchi Big Data Competition is a high-end algorithm competition for global researchers as per the company’s website. Participants get the opportunity to solve social and business problems with big data generated from real-world scenarios, using Tianchi resources. The contest is open to various universities of the world.

16. Iron Viz

This is among the world’s biggest data visualization contests. The contest also helps data scientists launch their careers worldwide. It is a Tableau skills competition. Every year three finalists are made to compete in a 20-minute contest using the same dataset.

17. Smart India Hackathon

This was a nationwide initiative to provide a platform for students interested in AI. The students are involved in solving some of the problems we face in our everyday lives. The contest is held separately for students of classes 6-12 and university students. Students can visit sih.gov.in to get further information. 

18. Data-centric AI (DCAI)

The objective of this contest is to predict the correct class associated with each data point in a test set using a machine learning classifier. In this competition, candidates have to conquer two kinds of data modalities –

-Text (covered in the first 5 weeks of the competition)

-Images (covered in the next 5 weeks of the competition).

19. Microsoft Azure AI Hackathon

The Microsoft Azure AI Hackathon is conducted globally. The participants use Microsoft’s Azure platform to develop and deploy AI solutions to the problems brought up in this contest. The participants collaborate with various teams and work towards a single goal. The algorithms are evaluated by Microsoft’s team. The winners are picked based on the accuracy of the solutions they provide.

20. Watson AI XPRIZE

This competition is hosted by IBM. AI professionals develop innovative AI solutions to solve real-world problems in this contest. IBM’s Watson AI software is to be used by various participants to create AI models that can predict efficiently and accurately. The reward prize is $ 5 million.
