Born in Bihar, India, Dheeraj Pandey began his academic journey at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. There he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from 1993 to 1997. Dheeraj Pandey’s career began at Trilogy Software, Inc., where he worked as a Software Developer from 1999 to 2000. He was part of the core development team that created the Trilogy Backbone, with primary responsibilities focused on the Workflow Engine and the Java-COM Bridge.

From 2000 to 2003, Pandey worked at Zambeel, Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer, contributing to the development of Zambeel’s Aztera Cluster Fileserver. His work spanned various engineering projects, including the metadata server, performance optimization, raw data server, and storage networking.

In July 2003, Pandey joined Oracle Corporation as a Software Development Senior Manager, where he led the development of storage solutions for Oracle’s Exadata platform, Oracle SecureFiles, and Advanced Compression. He also contributed to achieving world record TPC results during his time at Oracle, where he worked until September 2007.

Following Oracle, Dheeraj Pandey became the Director of Engineering at Aster Data Systems in 2007. It was a big data company that was later acquired by Teradata. He served in this role until 2009, after which he was promoted to Vice President of Engineering and held this position until September.

In September 2009, Pandey co-founded Nutanix, Inc., with Ajeet Singh and Mohit Aron. At Nutanix, he served as the CEO for over 11 years, until December 2020.
