Samsung to Bring AI and Hyper Connectivity to Tech-savvy Indian Consumers Says Samsung Vice Chairman and CEO, Jaong-Hee (JH) Han. Jong-hee visited the new flagship store in India emphasizing India as the next big playground for AI and showcasing the 'AI for All' vision

Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman and CEO Han Jong-hee visited the new flagship store in India on March 22. During the visit to Samsung BKC in Mumbai, Vice Chairman Han said, “India is the next big playground for AI, and our flagship Samsung BKC store is an embodiment of our ‘AI for All’ vision.” 

Han further mentioned that India is one of the biggest and fastest-growing markets globally, offering a huge opportunity for Samsung. 

“India has a large population of tech-savvy young consumers that inspire us to innovate. Here, thousands of young, enterprising youth work at our R&D centers to bring cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence to the world. We are proud of them,” said Han.

Samsung recently inaugurated the connected lifestyle experience store Samsung BKC, where consumers can experience ‘One Samsung’. This entails Samsung’s latest AI innovations and how they power the company’s connected device ecosystem.

Why Samsung Electronics Consider India to be the next big playground for AI

  • India’s Market Potential: The page highlights India’s large, tech-savvy young population and growing demand for premium home appliances and smartphones, with Samsung leading the market share
  • R&D and Collaboration: Samsung is expanding its R&D efforts in India, including a new SSD R&D organization and a second semiconductor R&D center, and collaborating with top Indian universities.

India is considered a market with a large number of potential consumers for both home appliances and smartphones. There is a growing demand among Indian consumers towards replacing entry-level home appliances with premium products, while around 70% of the population are smartphone users. 

Last year, Samsung sold the most smartphones among its rivals, amounting to 19% of the market share.

The Company has been in India for over 28 years, having begun operations in 1995. Samsung continues to be deeply committed to India with two state-of-the-art manufacturing plants, three R&D centers, and one design center that employs thousands of people.

“AI will enable connected technologies to improve people’s daily lives while always remaining non-intrusive and in the background. With our model of open collaboration, we want to bring AI and hyper-connectivity to all our consumers. India is the next big playground for AI and our flagship Samsung BKC store embodies our ‘AI for All’ vision and will showcase ‘One Samsung’. 

At the various zones of the store, consumers can see our AI vision in reality and experience how smarter, better experiences will redefine how we live,” said Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice Chairman, CEO, and Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics.

India also emerges as a crucial research hub for the company. Samsung recently launched a solid-state drive (SSD) R&D organization and established Bengaluru’s second semiconductor R&D center. 

The company has been actively collaborating with leading science and technology universities, including the Indian Institute of Technology and KLE University, demonstrating its deep commitment to India.
