It has been revealed that WhatsApp is developing a new feature that would allow users to have audio conversations in real time using its chatbot, Meta AI. The planned feature, according to the WABetaInfo source, intends to improve user involvement and make AI interactions more approachable and lively.
What to expect from the new voice chat feature being developed by Meta AI?
Currently in development, the new Meta AI voice chat option was observed in the iOS 24.16.10.70 WhatsApp beta. When Meta AI answers questions, users will be able to select from a list of pre-programmed voice options, thanks to an upcoming feature.
Allowing users to alter the AI’s voice is another step toward making their experience more unique.

Voice interactions handled by the user
According to the sources, the voice chat option won’t be on by default, allowing users complete control over how they communicate. The ability to end the voice discussion will always be available to users.
To protect customers’ privacy, the instant messaging service will let them know whether or not their microphones are in use by offering a privacy indication for iOS devices. With the help of this functionality, users will feel even more reassured that after a conversation ends, Meta AI stops answering their questions.
