Samsung SDC24: AI for All, New One UI, and 7 Years of Software Updates

At the 10th annual Samsung Developer Conference (SDC24), Samsung showcased its commitment to "AI for All." The event, held on October 10, 2024, unveiled One UI with 7 years of updates, AI-powered devices, and smart home enhancements, promising seamless and secure user experiences.

Samsung Electronics today held its Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) at the San Jose McEnery Convention Centre to celebrate a decade of collaboration and innovation with developers.

What’s New:

Samsung Electronics held its 10th annual Samsung Developer Conference ( SDC24) on October 10th, 2024, at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center, California, showing innovative advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). 

During his keynote address, Jong-Hee (JH) Han, Vice Chairman, CEO, and Head of the Device Experience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics said, “We have continued our journey of innovation with our many developers and partners for the last ten years,” highlighting the importance of open collaboration to strengthen both competitiveness and mutual growth in today’s AI era.

The event was attended by around 3,000 partners, developers, and media representatives. The event highlighted Samsung’s commitment to its vision of “AI for All.” The major announcement of the event includes the introduction of One UI, which will connect Samsung’s software experience across home appliances, TVs, and mobile devices, This unified platform will simplify user interactions and provide software upgrades for up to seven years. 

Samsung also previewed a sneak peek of One UI 7 at SDC24, highlighting its new UX focused on simple, and impactful design with more ways to seamlessly integrate Galaxy AI features into daily activities.

Samsung’s new initiatives use AI to enhance user experiences in several ways:

  • One UI Integration: Samsung commits to integrating its software across various devices, which will create a seamless user experience. This integration allows a personalised experience based on user behaviour.
  • Bespoke AI Appliances: Samsung’s Bespoke AI appliances are bringing better experiences to the entire household, from the kitchen to the living room. Features like the AI Family Hub™ in refrigerators and smart robotic vacuum cleaners with AI Floor Detect capabilities illustrate how it can make lives better, simpler, and easier than ever.
  • SmartThings Enhancements: The SmartThings platform will now include Home Insight features that analyse user data, usage patterns, device history, and home stats collected in real-time to offer a better home experience.
  • Security Enhancements: Samsung showed its commitment to robust security and privacy standards. Its Knox Matrix will expand from mobile to TVs and home appliances, which ensures robust protection of personal data. Samsung also highlighted Passkey, which will bring great convenience by allowing web browser-based logins through mobile QR code scanning.
