Elon Musk Sue Sam Altman
Elon Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman, claiming that they have strayed from the initial mission of the artificial intelligence startup, prioritizing profit over advancing humanity.
Musk, formerly a co-founder but now without any ownership stake, lodged the lawsuit in San Francisco, alleging that the company’s partnership with Microsoft has compromised its original goal of developing open-source technology free from corporate influence.
Musk, who is the CEO of Tesla Inc., has been highlighting the potential threat associated with AI and artificial general intelligence (AGI). The advent of OpenAI’s ChatGPT over a year ago brought attention to advancements in AI and prompted discussions that aim to create computers with human-level intelligence.
