The future Pixel phones could introduce advanced AI capabilities to your phone and could turn your screenshots into something more than just copies of what’s on your screen. In a recent report by Android Authority, there are plans for Google to incorporate a Pixel Screenshots feature that will save and work details on the screenshots for easier search.
Although this feature resembles Microsoft’s Recall tool which most users did not like, Google’s tool is not as invasive. The process by which Pixel Screenshots will work is quite different from Recall as it will only apply the screenings taken by the user manually. It should help reduce some of the privacy issues that come with Recall’s use.
Screenshots of Android’s new interface leaked to Android Authority show that users will be able to enable or disable AI processing of their screenshots at any given moment. When enabled, the feature is capable of providing you with a summary of your screenshot or even answering questions about the text in the screenshot. Google will also remember a URL and when a screenshot was taken so it becomes easier to search for an image.
“ADD ME” Feature
Google is preparing the Pixel 9 launch along with AI additions such as getting the “add me” feature which will enable people to be added to group photographs, the studio that forms stickers and pictures, as well as making a significant addition to the searching ability particularly in the Google photos. These features will be featured under a new subsection called “Google AI” However, there are some of the features which already exist such as Circle to Search, the Gemini chatbot, and the new Pixel Screenshots that leverage AI, to enable users to search through their screenshots.
The leak comprises several screens elaborating how Pixel Screenshots will work, and it is going to sound rather familiar. This feature will concern screenshots present on your device by dictating questions regarding the content of the screenshot. Additional information that will be added to the system will include; URLs, app names & time of capture.
How to use Meta AI in WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger to Get Rapid Answers
Like Microsoft, Google promises Pixel Screenshots will only process your data locally on the phone. Presumably, this will be tied into the Gemini Nano model currently available for Pixel 8 phones. There’s one important difference between Pixel Screenshot and Microsoft Recall i.e., Microsoft plans to take screenshots every few seconds and parse them with AI, but Google will only analyze the screenshots you take manually.
With this, Google hinted heavily at new AI features for the Pixel 9 in a teaser for its surprise hardware event on August 13th. So far, the Pixel 9 is rumoured to come in three sizes with a redesigned camera setup that ditches the bar for an oblong bump. While the new AI features are sure to excite Pixel fans, it remains to be seen how they will stack up against other smartphone cameras on the market.
