The one-year chronology of OpenAI ChatGPT is no less than the saga which has stormed New Age Technology. According to Reuters and Fortune ChatGPT has 180.5 million users, generates $80 million/month revenue and crossed over 10 billion all-time visits (1.43B visits in August 2023 itself).
Interestingly the OpenAI ChatGPT userbase grew by an explosive 9,900% to reach 100M users in just 60 days of launch and the hype doesn’t seem to be fading due to its significant advancement in the field of natural language processing and a wide range of potential applications in various industries and sectors.

How Many ChatGPT Users Are There? 180 million people have signed up
Sam Altman, the boss of OpenAI, said that ChatGPT has more than 100 million people using it every week. He shared this news at OpenAI’s first big meeting for developers in San Francisco. “Instagram Threads” got to 100 million users in just two days, faster than ChatGPT’s two months. But, while fewer people are using Threads now, ChatGPT’s popularity is still growing a lot.
Over 180 million people have created a ChatGPT account to date, but only around 100 million of them actively use it. ChatGPT took just 2 months for to reach the 100 million mark, and it is still going strong with the count.
ChatGPT was the fastest app to reach 100 million users before the launch of “Instagram Threads.” The usage of Threads has rapidly decreased while ChatGPT’s usage has skyrocketed. Facebook took four and a half years to reach the same mark.
