Ola’s Bhavish Aggarwal will launch an AI lab and invest INR 2K Cr in Krutrim

Bhavish Aggarwal invested INR 2,000 Cr in AI unicorn Krutrim, launching a frontier research lab and releasing models to redefine India's AI ecosystem

Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder of Ola, announced that INR 2,000 Cr would be invested in his AI unicorn Krutrim, with a further INR 10,000 Cr promised by the end of the year.

A few days after Krutrim stated that it was hosting open-source AI models of the Chinese GenAI business DeepSeek on its cloud platform, Aggarwal also announced the opening of a cutting-edge artificial intelligence research facility, Krutrim AI lab.

We’ve been working on AI for a year, but now we’re publishing some technical reports and making our work available to the open-source community. In a blog, Aggarwal stated, “Our goal is to develop AI for India—to improve AI on Indian languages, data scarcity, cultural context, etc.”

Numerous advancements have been made in India’s AI field.

According to reports, Google also began a test program to connect its rich communication services (RCS) with the Google Search app. This will enable consumers in India to contact businesses directly through AI-powered customer support.
