Ola's Bhavish Aggarwal will launch an AI lab and invest INR 2K Cr in Krutrim
Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder of Ola, announced that INR 2,000 Cr would be invested in his AI unicorn Krutrim, with a further INR 10,000 Cr promised by the end of the year.
A few days after Krutrim stated that it was hosting open-source AI models of the Chinese GenAI business DeepSeek on its cloud platform, Aggarwal also announced the opening of a cutting-edge artificial intelligence research facility, Krutrim AI lab.
We’ve been working on AI for a year, but now we’re publishing some technical reports and making our work available to the open-source community. In a blog, Aggarwal stated, “Our goal is to develop AI for India—to improve AI on Indian languages, data scarcity, cultural context, etc.”

He went on to say that this calculated investment demonstrates our commitment to promoting AI innovation and bolstering India’s standing in artificial intelligence.
Several models, including Krutrim 2 and Krutrim 1 LLMs, Chitrarth, Dhwani, Vyakhyarth 1, and Krutrim Translate 1, have been released by Krutrim AI Lab to redefine the AI environment in India. Additionally, it unveiled BharatBench, a platform for evaluating the efficacy of AI models in Indian settings.
Ola is a travel technology platform that was founded in 2010 and has its headquarters in Bengaluru. Depending on the route and length, the company provides ride-hailing, interstate travel, and rental transportation services on demand.
Numerous advancements have been made in India’s AI field.
According to reports, Google also began a test program to connect its rich communication services (RCS) with the Google Search app. This will enable consumers in India to contact businesses directly through AI-powered customer support.
