Microsoft announces a new Artificial Intelligence hub in London to advance state-of-the-art language models. AI chief at Microsoft Mustafa Suleyman also said that Microsoft would begin actively hiring new talent in the region to join its office.

Microsoft AI, a newly formed organization to help advance consumer Artificial Intelligence products and research, including Copilot, is opening a new AI hub in the heart of London. Microsoft AI London will drive pioneering work to advance state-of-the-art language models and their supporting infrastructure, and to create world-class tooling for foundation models, collaborating closely with the AI teams across Microsoft and with their partners, including OpenAI.
As per the official blog, Jordan Hoffmann will head the new Microsoft AI hub in London. Jordan Hoffman is an exceptional AI scientist and engineer who has worked with Inflection and DeepMind before joining Microsoft AI. Hoffmann will be joined by a talented group of Microsoft AI team members based in their London Paddington office.

Microsoft has not yet decided on an official opening date, but Mustafa Suleyman took to X, formerly Twitter, and said, “We’re hiring!”. He did not mention anything about job roles or the number of openings.
Mustafa also said in the official post, “ In the coming weeks and months, we will be posting job openings and actively hiring exceptional individuals who want to work on the most interesting and challenging AI questions of our time. We’re looking for new team members driven by impact at scale, and passionate innovators eager to contribute to a team culture where continuous learning is the norm.”
Suleyman also indicates his work experience in the area of the UK and hints at focusing further on exploring its potential by saying, “There is an enormous pool of AI talent and expertise in the U.K., and Microsoft AI plans to make a significant, long-term investment in the region as we begin hiring the best AI scientists and engineers into this new AI hub.”

Microsoft recently announced a £2.5 billion investment to upskill the U.K. workforce for the AI era and to build the infrastructure to power the AI economy, including our commitment to bring 20,000 of the most advanced GPUs to the country by 2026.
Microsoft already has its centres in the U.K., including the Microsoft Research Cambridge lab, home to some of the foremost researchers in AI, cloud computing, and productivity. Now, the Microsoft AI hub has been added to the list.
It would be great to see what’s possible with AI and how its benefits reach every person and organization in the UK.
