The adoption of Artificial Intelligence in education will bring a paradigm shift in the various ways of student learning and teaching methodology. The first witness of AI adoption in education is from Kerala, with the introduction of the first generative AI teacher, ‘Iris’.
Iris, the humanoid teacher, was unveiled last month at KTCT Higher Secondary School in Thiruvananthapuram in collaboration with Makerlabs Edutech Private Limited. According to Makerlabs, Iris was built as part of the Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL), a 2021 NITI Aayog project to boost students’ extracurricular activities in schools. Iris can be a voice assistant and help students with interactive learning, manipulation capabilities, and mobility.

The AI teacher ‘Iris’ has revolutionized education and is popular for creating a truly personalized learning experience. By adapting to each student’s needs and preferences, IRIS empowers educators to deliver engaging and effective lessons like never before.

The AI Teacher Robot is an innovative voice assistant designed to aid in educational settings and DIY learning environments. Powered by the possibilities of robotics and generative AI technologies, this robot serves as a versatile teaching tool with interactive capabilities. Equipped with a dedicated Intel processor and a coprocessor for maneuvering tasks, the robot offers seamless performance and responsiveness. With its Android app interface, users can easily control and interact with the robot for a personalized learning experience.
Voice Assistant: Acts as an AI voice-controlled assistant, responding to user queries, providing explanations, and delivering educational content.
