Elon Musk introduces Grok 3 AI, dubbed “the smartest AI on earth”: All the information

xAI, led by Elon Musk, has released Grok-3, an intelligent chatbot with a computing capacity ten times higher than its predecessor. It also introduces the DeepSearch tool, an AI-powered search engine. Grok-3 is available to X Premium+ customers and is part of a new membership package. xAI is negotiating to raise $10 billion for a $75 billion valuation.

Elon Musk’s AI firm, xAI, has released a more intelligent AI chatbot. “We’re very excited to present Grok-3, which is, we think, an order of magnitude more capable than Grok-2 in a very short period,” Musk stated during a launch demo event.

“Thanks to the hard work of an incredible team, and I’m honored to work with such a great team,” he said, praising the Grok AI team. About 100,000 people were watching the live-streamed demo event.

Grok-3 versus the Competitors

According to benchmark comparisons published by xAI, Grok-3 fared better than some of the most well-known AI brands, such as Google’s Gemini 2 Pro, DeepSeek V3, and OpenAI’s GPT-4o, particularly in math, science, and coding.

Musk also explained the name Grok, stating that Robert Heinlein’s Stranger inspired it in a Strange Land. A character who was raised on Mars uses it to fully and profoundly comprehend something. He underlined that two crucial components of the chatbot’s capabilities are profound comprehension and empathy.

What’s new in Grok-3?

Its sheer power is one of the largest improvements; according to the team, Grok-3’s computing capacity is more than ten times that of its predecessor. Musk disclosed that the model is already getting better every day after completing pre-training in early January. “You’ll notice improvements literally in a day,” he claimed.

The DeepSearch tool, a new AI-powered intelligent search engine, is another significant update for Grok 3. In contrast to standard chatbots, DeepSearch provides more than simply answers; it also explains how it thinks, comprehends inquiries, and creates answers. Notably, Perplexity AI introduced the DeepResearch tool, a comparable tool.

Grok-3 is now available to X (previously Twitter) Premium+ customers. Additionally, xAI is introducing SuperGrok, a new membership package for Grok.com and Grok mobile app customers.

OpenAI versus xAI

Musk has separated himself from OpenAI, the business he helped co-found, but has been harshly critical of it. He even brought two lawsuits against OpenAI recently.

Musk claimed that the business was straying from its initial goal. Additionally, he made a daring offer to pay $97.4 billion to acquire OpenAI’s nonprofit division, but it was turned down. Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, described it as an effort to slow them down.

To increase its valuation to $75 billion, xAI is now in negotiations to raise about $10 billion. But according to reports, OpenAI is looking for $40 billion in capital, which could increase its valuation to $300 billion.

Infrastructure issues with Grok 3

It takes significant infrastructure to build the most intelligent chatbot AI, such as Grok-3. Executives from xAI described how to reach their launch objectives; they had to construct their own data center from the ground up in just four months. In just 122 days, the team was able to get 100,000 GPUs operational, and in just 92 days, they doubled that capacity.

Other businesses, meanwhile, are placing significant bets on AI infrastructure. According to reports, Dell Technologies is completing a $5 billion agreement to supply high-performance AI servers to xAI. Apart from that, tech behemoths like SoftBank, Oracle, and MGX, which is sponsored by Abu Dhabi, have declared their intention to invest up to $500 billion in AI infrastructure and data centers.
