Perplexity AI’s Deep Research tool is available for free: Check how it operates

Perplexity AI has launched a free deep research tool, comparable to Google Gemini and ChatGPT, that is capable of reading and analyzing data. With a daily cap on answers, it offers faster responses than other options and can compile reports for sharing via Perplexity Pages or PDF.

Perplexity AI, a conversational search engine driven by AI, is adding new capabilities to its growing user base. The business declared on Thursday that its new Deep Research tool will be available for free. The new technology can read hundreds of sources, conduct dozens of searches, and analyze the data to provide thorough reports on its own.

The Deep Research tool from Perplexity is comparable to Google Gemini and ChatGPT. Nevertheless, it is accessible to free users with a daily cap on the amount of answers. Announcing the latest breakthrough, CEO Aravind Srinivas commented on his LinkedIn profile, “Excited to introduce the Perplexity Deep Research Agent: available for free to all users.”

To access an expert-level researcher on any issue for 500 daily queries, Srinivas stated that paying users would only need to pay $20 per month. They would receive a comprehensive study report in less than three minutes.

Srinivas claims that the Perplexity Deep Research Agent is far quicker than any other option. On the Humanity Last Exam Benchmark, the new tool performs similarly to OpenAI’s o3 agent, answering the majority of queries in less than three minutes. It also achieves an impressive 93.9% on the SimpleQA benchmark.

“We want to make “expertise on any topic” publicly available and practical by democratizing it. We can create our software much faster and less expensively thanks to the effectiveness of open-source models, which enables us to make it accessible to everyone,” Srinivas added.

When it comes to answering queries, Perplexity AI does admirably. But the new Deep Research goes well beyond producing immediate answers. Up to two minutes are spent on the task by the tool. As the study plan develops, the model repeatedly searches examines documents, and considers what to do next. It also has coding and search skills. This procedure is comparable to what a human would do while researching a particular subject. The agent compiles all of the information into an understandable and thorough report after the tool has assessed all of the source materials. The report can be shared by converting it into a Perplexity Page or exporting it as a PDF or paper.

According to the organization, Deep Research was created to make it possible for anyone to perform expert-level analysis on a variety of challenging topics. According to the site, “Deep Research is equally useful as a personal consultant in areas such as health, product research, and travel planning, and excels at creating work artifacts in domains including finance, marketing, and technology.”
