Elon Musk’s AI Chatbot ‘Grok’ Playfully Roasts Him with One Word: “Overrated”

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk introduces his own AI chatbot, 'Grok,' developed by his xAI company. In a lighthearted exchange, Musk asks Grok to roast him in one word, and the bot amusingly responds with "Overrated," earning Musk's acknowledgment with a simple "accurate."

Elon Musk, known for his ventures in the tech and space industries, recently unveiled ‘Grok,’ an artificial intelligence chatbot created by his xAI company. This bot is unique in its real-time data training from X, formerly Twitter. Musk, with his characteristic humor, engaged with Grok by asking him to roast him in a single word. Grok, introduced as xAI’s first AI model, is designed with inspiration from the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, boasting the ability to answer a wide array of questions and even suggest questions to ask. The chatbot is crafted to incorporate humor and a “rebellious streak” in its responses. Musk showcased Grok’s playful side by revealing a conversation where the AI made jokes about FTX founder Sam Bankman Fried and responded sarcastically to a question about making cocaine.

Despite being in its early stages, Grok has undergone training on a prototype large language model, Grok-0, featuring 33 billion parameters over two months. The company anticipates continuous improvement through the early access program.

Musk’s foray into the AI landscape with Grok places it in competition with other major programs such as ChatGPT, Bard, and Bing. The company aims to position Grok as a versatile AI capable of evolving and adapting to user interactions. With its blend of humor and rebelliousness, Grok adds a unique flavor to the AI landscape, showcasing Musk’s penchant for innovation and entertainment.

As Grok remains a work in progress, the xAI company looks forward to refining its capabilities over time. The playful banter between Musk and his AI creation provides a glimpse into the potential of AI technology to not only serve functional purposes but also entertain and engage users in unexpected ways.
