Data Labelling Tech Scale AI Doubles its Valuation to a Whooping $13.8B

Scale AI is a data labelling company that was founded in 2016. It helps big companies improve the quality of the data and thus in turn help in the accuracy of their AI programs. They accurately label the data for tech giants who are building AI models like OpenAI’s Chat GPT.

Recently it has raised $1 billion from some of the biggest corporate investors and includes popular names like Amazon, AMD, and Meta. This fundraiser was a mix of both primary and secondary funding.

Aside from Amazon and Meta, Scale AI is also attracting new investors like Cisco, Intel seems to be very interested in the prospect of its growth.

Thanks to companies like Scale AI, AI altogether has improved tremendously over the last decade with the capacity to read and reason along with interpretation skills as well. They are also able to do multiple steps and complex problems as well.

Growth and Expansion of Scale AI

As Scale AI grew over the years, it focused on data enhancement and validation as well along with data labelling. Today they have one of the biggest customer bases and have some of the top companies around the world.

It continued to grow and attracted additional funding from other investors as well like Founders Fund and Tiger Global Management. In 2021 it had raised a total of $600 million in funding and hence it was valued at a whopping $7 billion.

Nowadays the life of any AI is data and that is why companies like Scale AI specialise in data management and data labelling. Generally, most of the data is unstructured and unlabelled, and hence AI cannot process this data. Scale AI comes into the picture and helps big companies manage their data by labelling them.

Alexandr Wang, CEO of Scale AI said that it will use the new funding to help accelerate the “abundance of frontier data that will pave our road to artificial general intelligence.” He also added that “Data abundance is not the default — it’s a choice,”. It was said that they are trying to bring in the best minds of operations AI and Engineering and will continue scaling the LLMs in higher magnitude. He later stated, “We should not be data-constrained in getting to GPT-10.”

Since its formation, Scale AI has rapidly grown democratizing access to AI and ML technologies. The vision and the target it achieved have attracted a lot of customers and funding from various investors as well.
