Bengaluru will provide India with its first AI model

India’s first foundational AI model will be developed in Bengaluru, according to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement on February 11.

“We have moved beyond the era of IT and software and stepped into the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI),” he stated during the opening of the state’s premier event, the Invest Karnataka 2025—Global Investors Meet, held at Bengaluru Palace Grounds. Bengaluru established the groundwork for the software sector in India.

“I have a lot of faith in Bengaluru’s young people’s creativity and potential. I am sure that Bengaluru will provide India with its first foundational AI model soon, just as this city gave India its foundation in software technology,” he continued.

“If there are doubts about India’s future, a visit to Bengaluru will dispel them,” Singh said, speaking to an audience of more than 5,000 business representatives from around the world. India is paving the way for global leadership due to the country’s impressive advancements in IT, startups, and cutting-edge research.

Singh praised Karnataka’s advanced innovation, robust business environment, and top-notch infrastructure, all of which have made the state a top choice for international investors.

Known as the country’s technology capital, Bengaluru is becoming a center for expertise in deep technology, aerospace, and artificial intelligence. He pointed out that the city’s youthful vigor and aspirations are driving India’s ascent on the international scene.

Singh said, “Karnataka is where knowledge and prosperity converge,” about the state’s remarkable development. The nation is reaching new heights thanks to Bengaluru’s groundbreaking efforts in areas like artificial intelligence and space technology. This is where India’s first fundamental AI model will soon appear.

Singh voiced strong confidence in Karnataka’s continued ascent as a global leader in technology innovation, citing the state’s strong talent pool and highly qualified workforce. According to him, the nation’s sustainable future depends on a market-driven economy that is bolstered by robust private entrepreneurship.

“India is rapidly emerging as the world’s largest market, and with Karnataka’s vision and leadership, we are poised to capitalize on this growth,” he said.

Singh noted Bengaluru’s crucial contribution to India’s development, particularly in the aerospace industry, as more proof of Karnataka’s importance in influencing the nation’s performance internationally, and praised the state’s shift from bureaucratic red tape to a pro-investor atmosphere.
