Amazon Prime Video introduces X-Ray Recaps, an AI-powered tool for concise TV show summaries, currently in beta for US Fire TV users, with expected support by year-end.
Prime Video gives you a new method to catch up without wasting time or running the risk of spoilers with X-Ray Recaps, so you can spend more time streaming your favorite TV series.
Vice President of Product at Amazon Prime Video, Adam Gray stated in the official blog, “Prime Video’s product and technology teams work tirelessly behind the scenes to improve customers’ viewing experience, and with the creation of X-Ray Recaps, we’re directly addressing a common problem customers face when streaming content: forgetting where they left off.”

A generative AI-powered tool called X-Ray Recaps generates concise, easily understandable summaries of entire TV show seasons, individual episodes, and even segments of episodes, all tailored to the very moment you are watching.
X-Ray Recaps provides brief textual summaries of important cliffhangers, character-driven plot points, and other details that you can access at any time during your viewing experience, whether you’re halfway through a season, a few minutes into a new episode, or took a break from watching a series and need a refresher.
X-Ray Recaps expands on Prime Video’s already-existing X-Ray features, which include trivia and facts on the cast, soundtrack, production, and other elements to help viewers delve further into what they’re viewing.

Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed AWS solution for developing and growing generative AI applications with fundamental models, powers X-Ray Recaps. To produce comprehensive descriptions of significant events, locations, timings, and conversations, X-Ray Recaps analyzes different video segments with dialogue or subtitles using a combination of Amazon Bedrock models and custom AI models trained on Amazon SageMaker. Additionally, guardrails are used to guarantee that succinct and spoiler-free summaries are produced.
From the Prime Video detail page or while watching the X-Ray experience, you can start X-Ray Recaps whenever you choose. After making your selection, you can pick from a variety of recap formats, such as summaries of the most recent episodes, the entire season, or the prior season.
