4-Step Tutorial on how to create a GPT – No coding required

Hey everyone! Guess what?

You can now make your very own custom ChatGPT, tailored just for your needs!

These are personalized versions of ‘GPTs’. Think of them as your personal ChatGPT that’s fine-tuned to help you out in everyday life, whether it’s at work, at home, or just for fun.

They can do all sorts of cool stuff, like explaining board game rules, teaching your kids some math, or even helping you design cool stickers.

And the best part? You don’t need to be a tech wizard to create one. It’s super simple, like having a chat. Just tell it what you need, add some special instructions or knowledge, and choose what you want it to do, like web searching, creating images, or data analysis.

You can check this out and start creating at chat.openai.com/create.

For those who have ChatGPT Plus or are enterprise users, there are already some examples of GPTs to try, including ones with Canva and Zapier AI Actions. And don’t worry! OpenAI is planning to make GPTs available to even more users pretty soon.

Before moving ahead with the process of creating custom GPTs, let’s understand what exactly they are.

What are GPTs?

Generative Pre-trained Transformers (GPTs) are a type of artificial intelligence model designed for understanding and generating human-like text. They use a transformer architecture, which excels at processing sequential data, like language. These models are “pre-trained” on vast amounts of text data, allowing them to learn language patterns, grammar, and context.

What is the purpose of GPTs?

GPTs are primarily used for natural language processing tasks like text generation, translation, summarization, and question-answering. They aim to interact with users conversationally, providing human-like responses. GPTs can enhance various applications, including chatbots, content creation tools, and language understanding systems.

Now, let’s learn how to create custom GPTs without any coding.

4-Step Tutorial to create custom GPT without Coding

Traditionally, creating AI applications required extensive coding knowledge and technical expertise in machine learning and data science. However, new platforms like OpenAI are emerging that allow individuals without a coding background to develop AI applications. This democratization means that a wider range of people can contribute to AI innovation. Check out the process in detail:

Step 1: Access GPT Builder

Firstly, you can only access GPT Builder if you have ChatGPT Plus (which costs around $20 per month). If you have it, start by clicking the Explore tab.

Now click on “Create a GPT“. From here, we will begin creating our GPT.

Step 2: Chat to start

Before adding custom instructions in the “Configure” tab, simply talk with ChatGPT conversationally to describe what you’d like to build. This will get us a good draft of our GPT.

Step 3: Configure your GPT

Now that the basic drafts are done, click Configure and optimize the GPT. In my example, I changed the name and profile photo and uploaded a file to add “Knowledge” to my GPT. I uploaded my X data since I’m creating a GPT that optimizes my X posts.

Step 4: Start using your new GPT

Chat with your GPT, and you can see how well it follows instructions. I created a GPT that takes in X drafts and optimizes them for maximum engagement based on my previous posts (data).

5 Key Benefits of these GPTs

  • Democratization of AI Development
  • Enhanced Creativity and Diverse Perspectives
  • Accelerating Technological Advancement
  • Economic and Business Implications
  • Impact on Society and Everyday Life
  • Challenges and Considerations

In conclusion, the ability of individuals without a coding background to develop and market AI applications has the potential to be a game-changer. It not only fosters innovation but also ensures that the benefits of AI technology are accessible and relevant to a broader segment of society. This development could be a key driver in the technological transformation of the 21st century, impacting nearly every aspect of our lives.
