With the recent announcement of MahaMarathi 7B, excitement has surged within the Marathi-speaking community. This innovative AI tool promises significant advancements in language processing, content creation, and other applications.

With the recent announcement of MahaMarathi 7B, a powerful Marathi large language model (LLM), excitement has surged within the Marathi-speaking community. This innovative AI tool promises significant advancements in language processing, content creation, and other applications.

This artificial intelligence Large Language Model can handle complex discussions and instructions in Marathi. The language is spoken by over 83 million people and is the 13th most spoken in the world. But who are the brilliant minds behind this groundbreaking project?

Dr. Akash Patil played a crucial role in bringing MahaMarathi 7B to the forefront. He announced the model at the Garje Marathi Global Excellence Summit 2024. MahaMarathi 7B is a “domain-adapted, continually pre-trained, and instruction fine-tuned native Marathi large language model (LLM) with 7 Billion parameters based on Meta LLaMA-2+Mistral AI.”

In a blog post on LinkedIn, announcing the LLM, Akash Patil also says that Marathi businesses and consumers contribute over 15% to the Indian GDP, with the GSDP experiencing a robust CAGR of over 10% 🇮🇳.

They have released the initial version of their pre-trained base model on Hugging Face to promote broad access and democratize machine learning research for businesses and e-governance.
