Latest Updates

In a recent interview with Fortune, Honeywell’s CEO, Vimal Kapur shared his views on how AI will transform Honeywell’s customer offerings rather than merely improving internal efficiencies. He sees such applications as “table stakes,” necessary for productivity but not disruptive to the strategic landscape in Honeywell’s core markets.

Kapur believes the real competitive edge lies in embedding AI into Honeywell’s products for its customers, addressing a pressing issue in the industrial and aviation sectors: labor shortages. The company aims to use its extensive industrial data to train AI copilots that can help upskill workers, reducing the experience needed for complex roles.

Also, Vimal Kapur is excited about AI-integrated product features, such as checkout scanners enhanced with computer vision. These scanners could identify items without barcodes, streamlining the process for customers and reducing wait times. Honeywell is collaborating with chip manufacturers like Qualcomm to equip devices with the necessary chips to run AI models directly on the hardware.

However, due to development and certification processes, many of these products won’t hit the market until 2025 or 2026.
