This is why, the tech giant recently introduced Copilot Labs. Copilot Labs is a dedicated space where users test and refine some of Copilot’s most advanced AI features before they reach a wider audience. Another major update is the release of Copilot Vision, an AI companion.

What is Microsoft’s Copilot Labs?

Copilot Labs is a testing platform launched by Microsoft to gather feedback on its most advanced AI tools before releasing them to the general public. It allows a subset of Copilot Pro users to try out “work-in-progress” features and provide valuable insights for improvement.

The first tools from Copilot Labs focus on reasoning and better understanding user needs.

Key Feature

One of the first and key features of Copilot Labs is called Think Deeper. 

It is designed to solve complex problems, whether they are math equations or planning big projects. This feature enhances Copilot’s ability to reason through complex problems, providing detailed, step-by-step answers to challenging questions. 

Currently, Think Deeper is available to a limited number of users in certain countries. Only a subset of Pro users from the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia will be able to access.

What is Microsoft’s Copilot Vision?

Microsoft’s next major release is Copilot Vision. This brand-new feature gives Copilot the ability to “see” and understand the content the user is viewing online. While Copilot has traditionally been limited to language-based input and outputs, Copilot Vision will a new dimension to the AI model by allowing it to understand and respond based on what the user is looking at,

Copilot Vision will be directly integrated into Microsoft Edge. It is an opt-in feature, allowing users to use it only when they want Copilot to understand and interact with the content of a webpage. With its help, users can navigate websites, find answers to questions, and receive suggested relevant actions.

Currently, Copilot Vision is being rolled out to a small group of Pro users in the United States.

Key Features

Here are the key features of Microsoft’s Copilot Vision: 

  • Contextual Understanding: Copilot can analyze the page the user is viewing and answer questions about its content.
  • Task Assistance: Copilot can suggest next steps, answer questions, and help navigate tasks.
  • Natural Language Interaction: Users can simply speak to Copilot in natural language to interact with the feature.

When it comes to sharing your computer screen and allowing an AI model to monitor your online activity, naturally concerns about security and safety arise. However, Microsoft assures it will stay committed to its user’s safety and privacy. 

Copilot Vision is entirely opt-in, meaning users decide when and how they want to use the feature. In this preview phase, Microsoft will not store or use any content, including texts, images, audio, or conversations with Copilot, for training purposes. Once users close the feature, it permanently discards all data.

Plus, Microsoft is limiting the feature to a curated list of pre-approved websites and blocking its use on paywalled or sensitive content.
