Google Introduces ‘Google Vids’ AI Video Creator in Limited Beta Release

Google has launched the beta version of Google Vids, an AI-powered video creation tool, to select Workspace customers. Integrating seamlessly with Google Workspace, Vids offers customizable video, text, and audio presentations using Google's Gemini and Vertex AI. Available initially through Workspace Labs, this innovative tool aims to enhance enterprise-level video content creation.

Tech behemoth Google began rolling out the beta version of Google Vids, a new generative AI-powered video creation tool, to a limited group of customers on Monday. These users were part of the Workspace application suite for enterprises.

Google announced via email that Google Vids is now available for testing. “Vids is a work-focused app for creating videos powered by artificial intelligence, seamlessly integrating with the workspace suite you regularly utilize.”

A Google community manager continued, “We’re excited to bring Google Vids into Workspace Labs,” in a Monday forum post.

Google Vids creates customizable text, audio, and video presentations using Google’s Gemini and Vertex AI in response to user instructions. According to the firm, Google Vids will initially be made available in Google Workspace Labs to “a select group of trusted testers.”

Google claims that Vids creates editable presentations with royalty-free stock footage, photos, voices, and background music using generative AI. Users can work together on a shared project, just like they can with other Google Workspace applications.

Google Vids also offers a range of voices in other dialects, including American, British, and Australian English, to expand the user base for its audio services. The voices range from lively and friendly to calm and active.

Google debuted several AI-powered innovations for its Workspace tool suite in May. Even though most of these new services are catered to consumers, Google Vids is only accessible through business and enterprise accounts right now.

The new product, which was hinted at in April, joins a crowded field of AI development that includes DeepBrain AI, Invideo AI, Descript, and many more, in addition to OpenAI’s (the company that created ChatGP) Sora text-to-video generator.

According to the help centre, the tool has “help me create” features that allow novice users to follow instructions created by Google’s Gemini AI system to begin their first draft film. Using the prompts, Gemini can:

Create:

  • A storyboard with an editable outline
  • Scenes and recommended text suggestions
  • Storyline scripts for voiceovers and videos

Choose:

  • a suggested stock image or video that you may replace with your material.
  • Recommended background music that you can replace or keep with your media

Google warns that because cutting-edge technology like “Help Me Create” is being released gradually, not everyone will have access to it at the same time.
