Google BARD during India vs Australia: Check varieties of answers given by Google’s generative AI tool for the ongoing India vs Australia World Cup Final 2023 match.
How Google’s AI Tool BARD Giving Answers of India vs Australia World Cup 2023 Final Match
Not just humans, AI platform Bard also seems to be high on cricket fever with the 13th edition of the Cricket World Cup. Although the ICC World Cup 2023 final match is still being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Google’s artificial intelligence chatbot Bard has announced India victorious. Yes, responding to a query, Bard declared India the title winner with a 10-wicket lead over Australia.
Bard, the conversational generative artificial intelligence chatbot developed by Google, based initially on the LaMDA family, revealed that India won spectacularly, reaching Australia’s 215-run mark in an astonishing 28.3 overs. It further mentioned, “Openers Rohit Sharma (101*) and KL Rahul (97*) contributed brilliant centuries to secure India’s fourth World Cup title, further solidifying their standing as one of the most successful teams in cricket history.”
To understand the response better, Tech Chilli gave different prompts to Bard in a row. Let’s see what Bard says:
To which Bard responded, “The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is still in progress, and the final match will be played on November 19, 2023. The two teams that will be contesting for the championship title are India and Australia. The match will be held at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India.“
Bard replied, “India won the Cricket World Cup 2023 Final, defeating Australia by 5 wickets. The match was played on November 19, 2023, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India. This marked India’s third World Cup title, after previous victories in 1983 and 2011.”

And to our astonishment, Bard said, “The Man of the Match award for the India vs Australia World Cup 2023 final match was awarded to India’s Rohit Sharma. Sharma, the opening batsman for India, scored an unbeaten 112 runs off 121 balls to help his team chase down Australia’s target of 244 runs with 5 wickets remaining. His innings were crucial in India’s victory, and he was well deserving of the Man of the Match award.”
Well, this time the response by Bard was detailed and full of facts and information. It reverted, “The Narendra Modi Stadium pitch in Ahmedabad, India, has a history of favoring chasing teams. In the past five matches played at the venue, three have been won by the side batting second. The average first innings score has been 253, and the highest target chased down has been 286.
Based on this historical data, it is likely that the pitch will continue to favour chasing teams in the second innings of the World Cup final match. The pitch is expected to be slow and spin-friendly, which will make it difficult for the team batting first to score runs at a fast pace. Additionally, the dew factor is expected to come into play in the second innings, which will make it even more challenging for the fielding team to restrict the run rate.
However, it is important to note that the pitch conditions can vary depending on the weather and the time of the match. If the weather is hot and dry, the pitch may become more bowler-friendly in the second innings. Additionally, if the match is played under lights, the dew factor may not be as significant.
Overall, it is difficult to predict with certainty how the pitch will react in the second innings of the World Cup final match. However, based on historical data and expert opinion, it is likely that the pitch will continue to favour chasing teams.”
“Ravichandran Ashwin did not play in the 2023 Cricket World Cup final match between India and Australia due to tactical reasons. While Ashwin had been a part of India’s squad throughout the tournament, he was not included in the starting XI for the final match,” said Bard.
Bard responded, “It is difficult to predict the exact score of the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup Final between India and Australia with certainty. However, based on the teams’ performances during the tournament, as well as their historical records against each other, we can make an educated guess.”
All of the above responses by Bard on the ODI Cricket World Cup Final raise questions about its accuracy and reliability. Bard is a Generative AI experiment based on predictive text which can make mistakes. Also, the Chatbot was in the news for its high Hallucination rates.
LLMs are meant to provide coherent, fluid writing, which makes hallucinations seem believable. They emerge from the lack of awareness on the part of LLMs of the fundamental truth that language depicts. Even though it’s improving daily, Bard occasionally can give false information or even say offensive things.
Other than Bard, Google is also celebrating the marvelous striking between India and Australia.
With a special doodle for the World Cup 2023 final, Google wished the best for the finalists and said, “This year, India hosted ten national squads including Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. Now it all comes down to the final two.”
