Apple Innovates with iOS 18: RCS Messaging and AI-Enhanced Siri on the Horizon

Apple had previously announced plans to introduce RCS support to iPhones in 2024, aiming to facilitate cross-platform functionality between iOS and Android devices.

According to the latest newsletter, iOS 18 is generating significant buzz as one of the most substantial software updates in the history of Apple’s iOS.The sources provide insights into two major features expected to debut with iOS 18, promising significant enhancements to the user experience.

One key highlight is the anticipated support for Rich Communication Services (RCS) within the native Messages app. Apple had previously announced plans to introduce RCS support to iPhones in 2024, aiming to facilitate cross-platform functionality between iOS and Android devices. RCS capabilities include enhanced media sharing, improved group chats, read receipts, typing indicators, and messaging over Wi-Fi.

The second major aspect of iOS 18 will be the enhancement of Siri through advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). Sources indicate that Apple is likely to introduce generative AI capabilities powered by its large language model (LLM), which will revolutionize Siri’s functionality and extend to other native apps like Messages. These AI enhancements will enable Siri to better understand and respond to user queries, as well as provide auto-complete suggestions for sentences.
