Adithya Kolavi’s Background and Achievements
Currently studying at PES University for a degree in computer science, Kolavi has shown remarkable dedication, balancing his academic pursuits with multiple internships and entrepreneurship. In May 2023, he launched an AI-based startup called CognitiveLab.
With a keen interest in natural language processing, he recognized the need for an evaluation framework and leaderboard to support Indic LLMs. This led him to develop indic_eval, a companion tool that complements the Indic LLM Leaderboard.
Also, he developed India’s first Kannada bilingual Large Language Model, Ambari, and engineered Cognitune, an enterprise-grade LLMops platform.
Kolavi is also engaged in research on vision transformers at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and leads the Google Developer Student Clubs as a full-time lead.

In an interview with AnalyticsIndiaMag, Adithya Kolavi expressed his desire to make artificial intelligence accessible to even the remotest parts of India. “Even the remotest villages in the country should be able to access it,” said Kolavi. “It should become like a second-nature Internet where people can openly use and experience the usefulness of AI.”
He added, “I’m looking forward to the day when people integrate AI into common apps such as WhatsApp and have a Kannada interface.”
