X, the former name for Twitter, has introduced a feature that lets the business use user posts to train its Grok AI automatically. By default, X activated the new configuration. The good news is that you can disable it and remove all of your AI conversation history.
According to the platform’s settings page, X can “utilize your X posts as well as your user interactions, inputs, and results with Grok for training and fine-tuning purposes” if enabled. X continues, saying, “This also means that our service provider xAI may also receive your interactions, inputs, and outcomes for these purposes.”
Disabling the settings isn’t possible through the X mobile app but on the social network’s desktop version.
How to disable X’s settings for data sharing:
- Go to the Settings page on your desktop using X.
- Click the tab labelled “Privacy and Safety.”
- Choose “Grok.”
- Take the box off of the checkbox.

By selecting the “Delete conversation history” button after turning off the setting, you can erase any past conversations you may have had with the AI.

Not only has X used user data to train its AI, but Meta informed EU and UK users last month of a planned update that would enable it to train its AI using publicly accessible Facebook and Instagram content. Eventually, the business gave in to pressure from the government and shelved its intentions.
