A big surprise for those who love to work in native languages is that Microsoft Build 2024 lets you do programming in the native language.
The CEO, Satya Nadella, announced that programming can be done in native languages, including Hindi, from now on.
Nadella said, “Think about that — every person can now start programming, whether it’s in Hindi, Brazilian or Portuguese, and bring back the joy of coding in their native language.” This feature will be added to the Copilot workspace.
Nadella confirmed that, as any person can get the idea to code, the Copilot allows you to code in native languages. This means Copilot is knowledgeable of an existing code and naturally combines it with the workflow.
To help the users, Nadella presented some glimpses of how one can start with an issue and how the Copilot has knowledge of an existing codebase and leads a plan to carry out the code. However, users have the authorization to control and customize the code at every point. He added, “It is fundamentally a new way of building software.”
He also added, “And today, we are taking one more big leap forward. We are bridging the broader developer tools and services ecosystem with Copilot for the first time. We’re really thrilled to be announcing GitHub Copilot Extensions.”
It is known to everyone that English is the hottest programming language across the world, however, the myth is in danger with the introduction of Copilot. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in the latest podcast with Lex Fridman answering the question, In the next 5–10 years, how much programming can be done by the people, “A lot, but I think it’ll be in a very different shape.”
Altman said that programming in native languages is becoming a trend now. He added, “No one programs by writing code; some people do. No one programs the pun cards anymore.”
