Tim Cook Meets 22-Year-Old Varanasi Student Before Apple WWDC 2024
The Apple WWDC 2024 was held in Cupertino, California’s Apple Park, yesterday, June 10.
Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, disclosed on X that he met Akshat Srivastava at the company’s headquarters. Because of his coding abilities, Srivastava won this year’s Apple Swift Student Challenge.

“When I visited India last year, I met so many extraordinary developers, and I saw so much excitement for the many ways that technology can enrich people’s lives,” said Tim Cook. Meeting Akshat this week and witnessing how he’s crafted a novel approach to impart his passion for vintage video games to the younger generation was equally delightful.
“Akshat is part of a growing generation of developers from all across India who are using code to realize their best ideas and have a significant impact on their communities and the world,” the speaker continued.
“After winning the Swift Student Challenge, I recently had the amazing chance to visit Apple Park in Cupertino,” Srivastava remarked of his trip.
He said that Cook’s feedback was very insightful and “inspiring that made all my hard work feel worthwhile” after meeting the CEO of Apple. “This incredible experience validated my love for technology and inspired me to keep pushing boundaries and making an impact,” he continued.

A little film with Tim Cook chatting with each of the Swift Student Challenge winners was also uploaded on X (formerly Twitter). “Starting #WWDC24 in the best way possible—meeting with student developers who won our Swift Student Challenge,” is how he captioned this photo. Observing their inventiveness and tenacity in action is astounding.
Notably, students can compete every year to demonstrate their coding abilities in the Apple Swift Student Challenge. They use Xcode or Swift Playgrounds to create an interactive app. Winners are honoured for their app’s inventiveness, social effect, or inclusivity. Top winners at Apple WWDC receive awards and a trip to Apple headquarters.
