Open AI's former CEO Sam Altman and former president Greg Brockman are joining Microsoft to lead a new team for advanced research in Artificial Intelligence, Satya Nadella announced today. This comes days after Altman was fired from OpenAI, a company he co-founded.
Sam Altman joins Microsoft to lead AI research team Announces Satya Nadella
Sam Altman has been hired by Microsoft – The announcement from CEO Satya Nadella today (November 20, 2023 – Monday). The announcement comes hours after OpenAI’s board appointed former Twitch chief Emmett Shear as chief executive officer, defying calls from investors to reinstate the ousted Sam Altman, who co-founded the company in 2015.
Moreover, Greg Brockman will also be joining Microsoft to lead a “new advanced AI research team”. The hiring of Sam Altman to lead Microsoft AI research will bring a new horizon. This will help Microsoft in the development of the most robust AI platform which can add new dimensions to the company.
Through his X platform (formerly Twitter) Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella reveals it. In his Twitter handle, Nadella said, “ I’m super excited to have you join as CEO of this new group, Sam, setting a new pace for innovation. We’ve learned a lot over the years about how to give founders and innovators space to build independent identities and cultures within Microsoft, including GitHub, Mojang Studios, and LinkedIn, and I’m looking forward to having you do the same.”
