New AMD Ryzen 9000: Cheaper Than Ryzen 7000 at Launch

The new AMD Zen 5-based Ryzen 9000 CPUs are priced lower than the Ryzen 7000 series at launch, offering better performance and cost-effectiveness in the rapidly evolving CPU market.

It’s confirmed. AMD’s new Zen 5-based Ryzen 9000 CPUs have been priced higher. Moreover, they are a shock of shocks, less expensive than the Ryzen 7000-series family.

More specifically, they’re less expensive than the Ryzen 7000 launch costs from two years ago. The majority of Ryzen 7000 variants can now be purchased for a significant discount from their 2022 launch costs.

Put another way, you will pay more for a certain new Ryzen 9000 CPU model than what the current Ryzen 7000 predecessor is selling for. However, this has to be excellent news in a world where GPU prices seem to be rising dramatically with every new generation.

This indicates that the new chips will retail for $20 to $50 less than the Ryzen 7000 series’ initial MSRP. Higher-end chips will inevitably receive larger discounts.

Naturally, as we have shown, since launch, the cost of the many Ryzen 7000 versions has decreased. As of right now, the Ryzen 5 7600X costs roughly $200, the Ryzen 7 7700X costs $295, the Ryzen 9 7900X costs $360, and the Ryzen 9 7950X costs $525.

Therefore, compared to the present 7000 series pricing, the new chips are significantly more expensive. But since the price of the Ryzen 9000 will probably decrease over time, the trend line is heading in the correct direction.

The previously mentioned Zen 5 architecture, which has an average 16% increase in instructions processed per clock cycle (IPC), is one of the highlights. While core counts stay the same, some models see very modest increases in clock speeds.

These new processors shouldn’t bring about a performance revolution, but they should be noticeably quicker. According to some measurements, AMD is claiming performance benefits of up to 23%.
