Mira Murati’s AI business is hoping to raise a whopping $2 billion in seed funding

Thinking Machines Lab, an AI firm led by Mira Murati, is aiming to close a $2 billion seed investment round valued at $10 billion. The firm focuses on human collaboration and multimodal models for text and visuals.

It has been claimed that Thinking Machines Lab, the AI firm founded by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, is trying to close one of the biggest seed investments ever.

A Business Insider article on Thursday states that Thinking Machines Lab upped its seed investment round goal to $2 billion. According to Business Insider’s reports, the transaction would value the company “at least” $10 billion if it closes as planned.

Having just come out of stealth, Thinking Machines Lab has no revenue or product to offer, but the move has drawn interest from the tech and investment sectors. It does have dozens of well-known AI researchers on staff, which is probably what is persuading investors to part with their money.

Along with employees from Mistral, Meta, and DeepMind, over half of the 30 reported employees of the company were once employed at OpenAI.

Alec Radford, a former OpenAI researcher responsible for several of the company’s more revolutionary inventions, and Bob McGrew, formerly OpenAI’s chief research officer, recently became consultants at Thinking Machines Lab.

According to earlier statements, Thinking Machines Lab aims to develop AI systems that are “more widely understood, customizable, and generally capable” than those that are currently on the market.

The business, which has its headquarters in San Francisco, focuses on human collaboration while creating multimodal models for text and visuals.
