Google rebrands its Duet AI model into Gemini for workspace

In a blog post on Wednesday, February 21, Aparna Pappu, Vice president and General Manager of Google Workspace said, “ Today we’re introducing Gemini Business, a new plan designed for organizations of all sizes, and a new, enterprise-grade standalone experience to chat with Gemini”. 

Gemini for Google Workspace, earlier known as Duet AI for Google Workspace gives customers access to our most capable AI models. Google envisions making this Gemini model update into the workspace apps which will target millions of customers every day.

Gemini for Workspace can help people with every task like drafting a marketing campaign, organizing a birthday party, or writing a business plan for a new venture. It also plans to enter the chatting app business along with providing enterprise-grade data protection.

Gemini Business is launched to offer lower prices to help organizations whether big or small get started with generative AI in Workspace. This plan as per Google gives them access to Gemini for Workspace which includes experiences like Help Me Write in Docs and Gmail, Enhanced Smart Fill in Sheets, and image generation in Slides. That too for as low as $20 per user per month with an annual commitment from Google.

It also welcomes Customers to purchase Gemini Enterprise, which replaces Duet AI for Workspace Enterprise. Gemini Enterprise At $30 per user per month with an annual commitment offers the same capabilities as Gemini Business with more usage. It also includes additional capabilities for AI-powered meetings, where Gemini can translate closed captions in more than 100 language pairs, and soon even take meeting notes. 

Existing customers of Duet AI for workspace will automatically get upgraded to Gemini Enterprise with this update.

Google One AI Premium Plan members can check how they can use Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Meet. Google also plans to work on bringing Gemini for Workspace to education customers.
