Google Meet is introducing an AI-powered feature called "Take notes for me" for desktop users of Google Workspace. This feature allows users to request the app to take notes during meetings, allowing them to focus on presentations and conversations. The feature is currently available to Workspace clients by September 10.

The well-known video-conferencing app Google Meet is receiving a new AI-powered feature that allows users to request that the app take notes for them.
Google recently stated on their blog that users of the desktop version of Google Workspace will now be able to use a new feature called “Take notes for me.” According to the tech behemoth, the new function would let users concentrate more on the presentation and conversation while automatically taking notes during the meeting.
The glitter icon in the top-right corner of Google Meet’s online interface allows you to activate it with a fresh pencil. (Other options include “Also record meeting” and “Also transcribe meeting.”).

To ensure that everyone pays attention to the discussion, Google Meet will answer the phone and take notes on your behalf. When you press the corner button once more, the “Summary so far” and “Latest update” will appear. If you’re joining a meeting late, this can be useful.
Following the call, it will be “attached to the calendar event where participants internal to your organization can access them” and saved to Google Docs. It will be sent via email as well. This contains the complete transcript/recording, attachments, and a list of attendees. Google offers both a bulleted “Details” section and a high-level summary.

For a while now, Google has been testing this feature in Workspace Labs and Alpha. With one of the add-ons, Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or AI Meetings & Messaging, it is currently being made available to Workspace clients. By September 10, Google anticipates that those users will have access.
Notes started from meet.google.com and “meetings must be conducted in spoken English” were mandated at debut.
