Career

Soon after starting Guillemot Informatique, the brothers ventured into video games. Seeing the growing demand for video game software, they realized it was a profitable industry to be in. So, they decided to get into game development. In 1986, the company was earning around 40 million French francs, which was somewhere around $5.8 million at that time. On March 28, 1986, they founded Ubi Soft (now called Ubisoft) to create games.

Zombi sold 5,000 copies by January 1987, and Ubi Soft entered distribution partnerships for games in Spain and West Germany. Thus began the journey of one of the most famous game publishing companies in the world.

Ubisoft has created some of the most iconic and beloved video game franchises, including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six.

Guillemot’s vision for Ubisoft has always been focused on creating original content in-house and developing proprietary brands. This strategy has paid off, with Ubisoft now boasting a diverse portfolio of games that cater to a wide range of audiences.
