All About Google Vids
On Tuesday, at the Google Cloud Next customer conference in Las Vegas, Google introduced a new AI-integrated video creation tool, Google Vids. While introducing the tool, Aparna Pappu, VP & GM at Google Workspace, said, “I want to share something entirely new. At Google Cloud Next, we’re unveiling Google Vids, a brand new, AI-powered video creation app for work.”

Google Vids is a video editing, writing, and production assistant. It is used alongside other workspace tools like Docs and Sheets, with a similar ability to create and collaborate in the browser. One can collaborate with colleagues in real-time and work on the story with all the same access controls and security that we provide for all of Workspace.
Unlike any other video editing app, it does more than make beautiful movies, like making a pitch, updating the team, and explaining a complicated concept. The main idea behind this latest version is to make everything as easy as possible, says Kristina Behr, Google’s VP of product management for the Workspace collaboration apps.
In Google’s demo, the new video editor is positioned as a corporate slideshow for tasks like training materials or product demos. Since the interface of this “video editor” is essentially Slides, with a video timeline rather than a slideshow timeline, it almost seems it could replace Google Slides entirely.
What is Character AI? How to Create a Custom Chatbot?
Google Vids is an AI-based video editing tool. Like most generative AI tooling, it generates an output on a prompt. You enter your desired video’s appearance in a description. The AI then starts to work, creating a storyboard for the video based on your ideas. You can access files in your Google Drive or use stock footage that Google has provided.
After that, you can rearrange the various segments of the video, apply transitions, choose a template, and add an audio track where you can record the audio. Also, you can add a script and have a pre-recorded voice read it. Once you’re satisfied, you can generate the video. Along the way, colleagues can comment or make changes, similar to other Google Workspace tools.
How to use Bing AI Image Creator to Generate Images from Text?
At present, this new application is available to a selected group of trusted testers in Google Workspace Labs. It will be made available to more Google Labs testers in June, and users with Gemini for Workspace subscriptions will eventually be able to access it.
Along with Google Vids, Google has launched many other tools and productivity apps to empower businesses of all sizes with new generative AI and security innovations in Google Workspace. Follow the Google Workspace blog to track the latest progress and developments!
