All About Cara
Cara is a social networking application made for creatives, allowing artists to share their work, memes, or personal thoughts in text form. It looks similar to well-known platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram and has both a mobile app and browser access.
With the widespread use of generative AI, Cara is a place that filters out generative AI images so that people who want to find authentic creatives and artwork can do so easily. The app does not agree with generative AI tools in their current unethical form, and it also does not host AI-generated portfolios unless the rampant ethical and data privacy issues around datasets are resolved via regulation.
There are two types of accounts on Cara, Portfolio and community:
Portfolio | Community | |
Portfolio Display | ✓ | ✓ |
Direct Message | ✓ | ✓ |
Invite a Friend | ✓ |
Cara aims to be a creator-first social media platform that connects artists with clients, fans, and industry peers. It emphasizes simplicity and ease of use while supporting artists with the features they need to connect with communities and clients for their work. The different features of the Cara App are:
Cara App also has an AI detector that filters out AI images in portfolios, a custom home feed you can control, and a custom crop tool for image thumbnails. The other top favourite features on Cara!

Your saved Open to Work setting will be used in search results.
Cara believes that the future of creative industries will involve heavy use of AI, and it’s paramount that our governments work to regulate the rampant unethical data usage as well as provide safety nets for the impact AI will have on our society.
Our ability to produce and appreciate art will be profoundly altered if generative AI is widely used in production across all industries.
Hence, Cara is a place to stay up-to-date on technology and industry developments. It works to support human creatives and be a place where artists can find discussions, education, and support as we navigate this incoming shift together.
