Roland Busch began his career at Siemens in 1994 as Project Head in Corporate Research and Development in Erlangen, Germany. At first, his work focused on research in advanced energy technologies, including fuel cells, offshore wind, photovoltaics, and high-temperature superconducting transmission lines. 

In 1995, he transitioned to a strategic planning role within the Automotive Systems Group in Regensburg, where he spent three years shaping strategic directions in automotive technologies.

Then, three years later ,Busch became Head of Central Quality and Internal Consulting within Process and Information Management in Germany, where he managed quality processes and internal consulting initiatives for three years. 

By 2001, he had risen to CEO of the Business Unit Infotainment Solutions in Regensburg. Thee, he oversaw radio, navigation, and multimedia systems for the automotive industry over four years.

Then, in 2005, Busch took on a new challenge as President and CEO of Siemens VDO Automotive Asia Pacific in Shanghai, where he led operations across the Asia-Pacific region for two years.
Following this, he returned to Germany in 2007 as CEO of the Mass Transit Business Unit in Erlangen, focusing on mass transit solutions.

By 2008, Busch advanced to Head of Corporate Strategy, a role he held for three years in Munich, where he influenced Siemens’ overall strategic direction. In 2011, he became CEO of the Infrastructure and Cities division. In this role, he oversaw this sector’s global operations until 2014.

From October 2018 to September 2019, Busch served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and continued to serve on Siemens’ Managing Board. 

Later that year, he also took on the role of Deputy CEO, and by December, he was appointed CHRO and Labor Director. 

He also served as the company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) from 2016 to 2020, driving innovation and strategic technology projects.

In 2019, he was appointed Chairman of Siemens Mobility GmbH, a position he continues to hold. In February 2021, Roland Busch reached the pinnacle of his career at Siemens by becoming President and CEO of Siemens AG.
