Pranav Mistry was born in Palanpur, Gujarat in 1981. He studied at Vidyamandir until 1999.

Pranav Mistry began his career as an Intern in the Incubation Team at Microsoft in 2004. He then worked as a Research Assistant at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, contributing to projects while completing his Master’s in Design. 

Following this, Pranav Mistry joined Microsoft as the Director of the India Incubation Team, leading innovation efforts in India.

In 2007, Mistry participated in multiple prestigious research positions. He worked as a Researcher at NASA, Google, and Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) under the UNESCO framework for three months, focusing on cutting-edge technology projects. 

During the same period, he also served as a Researcher at Microsoft Research for three months, and briefly as a Visiting Researcher at the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).

From 2006 to 2012, Mistry worked as a Research Assistant and PhD candidate at MIT Media Lab, where he conducted groundbreaking work on interfaces between the physical and digital worlds.
