The Manus scripting language allows users to specify tasks in a more complex manner. The user can define subtasks (i.e., ask Manus to request assistance from a human). The user can set conditions (i.e., ask Manus what to do next if the human doesn’t obey).
The user can define in as much detail as they like what Manus should do if the human doesn’t obey and if it is in charge. Manus can then execute the user’s task with the same ease as a human. It can do it just as well with all its functions working from start to finish.
It utilises several AI models, including Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet and a version fine-tuned by Alibaba, to tackle problems, generate plans, perform tasks (such as data scraping, coding, and web design), and provide answers.
Celebrated for its autonomy and GAIA standard-setting performance, Manus set off an international stir but also raised worries about privacy—for instance, who can get into it and who can’t—and, of course, concerns about what it can do (or will be able to do) and who can stop it.

Unlike regular chat assistants, Manus reveals how it works behind the scenes—like “opening tabs”, “running code”, or “scraping websites”—so you can follow along.
Once finished, Manus provides you with an organised output—such as a plan, report, website, or analysis—ready for use.
