Arvind Krishna was born in 1962 in Andhra Pradesh, India. For his education, Krishna attended Stanes Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, and later studied at St Joseph’s Academy in Dehradun.

Arvind Krishna began his career at IBM’s Thomas J. Watson Research Center in 1990. During this time, he transitioned into various roles within IBM, including a General Manager position in Information Management Software and Systems and the Technology Group. 

By 2015, he rose to the position of Senior Vice President of IBM Research and later assumed the role of Senior Vice President of IBM’s Cloud and Cognitive Software Division.
