Skild AI, Founded by IIT Graduates, Raises $300M in Series A Funding

Skild AI, founded by IIT Kanpur graduates, emerges from stealth with $300 million in Series A funding from top investors like Jeff Bezos and SoftBank. Valued at $1.5 billion, Skild AI is set to revolutionize the robotics industry with its innovative "Skild Brain" model for general-purpose robots.

The business Skild AI, which is developing robotic intelligence for broad purposes, has emerged from stealth and secured $300 million in Series A funding. Abhinav Gupta and Deepak Pathak, who graduated from IIT Kanpur, formed Skild AI in 2023. Deepak Pathak is the company’s CEO, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The business has raised money from well-known investors, including Jeff Bezos, SoftBank Group, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and others, and is currently valued at $1.5 billion.

Skild AI is a unique startup that has made significant progress in a short amount of time, and they have the potential to completely change our perception of what is possible for machines. Robotics has advanced thanks to Deepak and Abhinav, whose inventive use of foundation model ideas in practical applications has set the industry on the path to general-purpose robotics,” according to Lightspeed Venture Partners partner Raviraj Jain.

The foundational model of Skild AI has been trained on an enormous volume of data, representing a breakthrough in resolving the data difficulties in robotics. Their model functions similarly to a flexible brain, in contrast to robots made for specialized jobs or constrained spaces. It has demonstrated an amazing capacity to adjust and function well in a variety of scenarios, with different kinds of robots, and with duties including moving, handling things, and navigating.

The brain can adapt to different activities and hardware, according to the business, which also claims that “Skild Brain” is the first scalable robotics foundation model.

With the development of humanoid robots and the construction of foundation models for general-purpose robots, Skid AI is attempting to create an embodied system that can handle a variety of workloads.

The long-term objective of Skild AI is to create artificial general intelligence (AGI) that is grounded in reality, refuting the widely held belief that AGI can only originate from digital knowledge.
